Our Founders
Brett Bowker
Brett is a Senior Associate Product Manager for Capital One in Richmond, Virginia and is one of PeerSpective’s cofounders. Attending Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) for 4 years, Brett completed a B.S. in Marketing with a concentration in Product & Brand Management, and baccalaureates of business in the areas of Product Innovation, Human Centered Design and Experience (UI/UX), and Venture Creation in the Spring of 2019. During his time as a student, Brett served as the product manager and team lead on a variety of startups. One of the projects Brett has worked on in the past involved him designing, developing, and implementing a minimal viable product for “smart campus infrastructure” that improves student safety. Accolades Brett has won for his proficiency as problem solver include the Richmond Inno top 25 under 25 and Richmond Inno on Fire awards. During his time with PeerSpective, Brett has been able to secure the James R. Gregory Prize for Innovation & Entrepreneurship for $5000 and led the team to develop its prototypical VR
anti bullying simulation. With expertise as a Professional Scrum Master (PSM1), knowledge of Agile and UI/UX, Brett is ready to take part in the rollout of technologies that will improve societal health and connection.
Joshua Morriss
Joshua is a graduate student located in Richmond, Virginia pursuing a PhD in Pharmacotherapy at Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) School of Pharmacy and one of PeerSpective’s co-founders. After 4 years in his undergraduate program at VCU, he graduated in 2019 with triple degrees (Magna Cum Laude) in Biology, Economics, and Venture Creation (B.S., B.S., and baccalaureate of business, respectively; all at or over 3.6+ GPAs). During that time, he has had broad experience in Science and Technology startups such as PeerSpective. While continuing his education, Joshua serves in the prosocial Richmond-based technology startup, PeerSpective. Joshua’s work in the past and present with PeerSpective has involved building its financial infrastructure, writing the grants it has been awarded (The VCU Undergraduate Research and Innovation Grant for $1500 and the Lighthouse Labs Business Accelerator grant for $20,000), and designing the experimental instrument to characterize student’s behavior in high-stress situations by the means of virtual reality and augmented reality (collectively referred to as XR) technologies. A certified Professional Scrum Master (PSM1), with extensive training in human centered design and experience (UI/UX), Joshua is well equipped to deal with interesting challenges by implementing novel solutions at the intersection of various biological and social sciences.
